Today, close to 140 schools are registered in the Garden to Cafe program, with more than 71,000 students participating. These programs are based at public gardens, and they help schools learn more about food and environmental sustainability. The restaurant serves a Modern British menu that was awarded a Michelin star in 2018. Visitors are encouraged to take home fresh cut flowers and vegetables from the gardens to eat on-site.

Barley Wood Walled Garden Cafe is situated in a beautiful, early 20th century garden. It was originally built for Henry Herbert Wills, the founder of the Imperial Tobacco Company. Though it was largely neglected after Wills’ death, it was saved by its present owner in 1993. The garden has been renovated and reopened to the public in 2000. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the garden, which includes galleries and artists’ workshops.
